9.1% ABV. Wow. This is going to be messy. I was in Toronto only a few months ago but just happened to miss Bellwoods' collab with Kilter by exactly one day for their Jutsii IPA collab. This time around I just happened to be in Winnipeg and Calgary's Eighty Eight Brewing's collab with Bellwoods for their mashup of Bellwoods' Witchshark and Eight Eight's Pool Wave. I picked this up at the Quality Beer Store in Winnipeg - they seem to be one of the only sources of out-of-province beer in the province now days.
Appearance: Opaque orange juice. The head is a frothy snow white in appearance and the lacing is pretty apparent as the beer is gradually sampled.
Aroma: Pretty dank, tropical, sweet and leafy. Definitely has a heavy orange juice vibe here, a leafy hop presence, mild pine bitterness.
Taste: Surprisingly smooth for 9.1% ABV. It's creamy, sweet, tropical and definitely hop-forward. I get notes of orange, a bit of pineapple, melon and lemon.
Overall Thoughts: Ridiculously smooth at 9.1% ABV! As much as I'm getting tired of Hazy IPAs lately, this one is a winner! Only drink one though..
