Jeepers Creepers, Feelin' Hazy! This beer would have been perfect to review for Halloween just a few days ago (when I wrote this) but hey.. I didn't even see the vibe of this can until now. Today's sampling is Flying Monkeys' Li'l Heathens Hazy IPA.
From the can: Animated, twitchy hops pogo through our plan for juicy refreshment creating an awful lot of mischief in such a light li'l hazy. Sneaky sparks of tangerine, pineapple candy, and tropical fruit burst with inklings of resin in the pale radium glow of this mostly harmless refresher. 4.2% ABV
Appearance: Kind of clear IPA with a golden straw body to it, a lot of carbonation in the body and a very thick amount of snow-white head on top that doesn't really go anywhere until it's getting savoured - then it gives off a nice white layered lacing on the glass.
Aroma: Quite sweet with a splash of tropical. Not quite the freshest. Heavy notes of caramel, notes of tangerine, pineapple, grapefruit and melon give off the most dominant aromas for the tropical presence to it. Slight hint of cardboard at the end.
Taste: Pretty 'dank' IPA still, leafy and floral/bitter hops popping out right at the beginning. The mouthfeel has to be mentioned now rather than later because it's watery and a bit tinny.. the beer wanted me to tell you that. Going back to the taste itself, moderately tropical notes of pineapple, grapefruit and tangerine, but it's pretty much subdued by the floral/bitterness of the hops.
Overall Thoughts: More bitter than sweet by the time you get to the tasting notes. S'alright.
