Today I'm reviewing something that's been on my list on non-alcoholic beers to review for a bit over a year now. My buddies in Quebec have told me about Bières Sans Alcool non-alcoholic brewery but it's only in recent months shown up to Manitoba. Today's sampling is White/Blanche, an Orange White Craft Beer brewed with less than 0.5% ABV.
The beer is brewed with Water, malted Barley, Wheat, Orange and lemon peels, hops, yeast and natural flavours. 88 calories per 473mL can
Appearance: Pours a clear golden straw body with a bit of a fizzy carbonation as it's poured, followed by a very light amount of carbonation in the body and a full finger's thickness of snow white head on top of the beer.
Aroma: It's definitely incredibly well zested.. that's all I'm really getting so far. A LOT of orange and some lemon. Sometimes that's to overpower notes that may not be as agreeable to the nose/palate. Not quite a beermosa but you get what I mean. Hint of wheat and a very slight doughiness to it.
Taste: I feel like I've tasted this very beer before but I know I haven't. It reminds me a bit of Lowlander 0.00% Wit that I reviewed in Netherlands a couple years ago... but without the incredibly fizzy seltzer/Ginger Ale-like carbonation to it. This is more watery with a lot of orange zest, lemon, a tad bit of metallic taste, and a slight toasted grain taste at the end. The orange dominates every part of this beer. Some coriander spice at the end.
Overall Thoughts: The orange is over the top but it's not bad at all, very easy to drink so this definitely works.
