Review: Frontaal Brewery Selfcare Batch #2 NE DIPA

Today's review is Brouwerij Frontaal's Selfcare Batch #2 New England Double IPA out of Breda, Netherlands. I purchased this at the Eindhoven Wijnhuis.

From the website: Everyone needs some self care once in a while, especially at the beginning of a new year. Self care has a blend of Mosaic, Chinook, and Idaho-7. Expect loads of dankiness mixed with some tropical vibes from the Mosaic and Idaho-7. Heat up a steaming bath, light some candles, put on some jazz, and enjoy this scrumptious beer! 8.4% ABV

Appearance: Deep and opaque orange juice body to it. Moderate thickness of snow white head that diminishes rather quickly to leave behind a nice layered lacing on the glass. Noticeable amount of sediment at the bottom of the glass.

Aroma: Sweet, tropical and juicy. Notes of orange, pineapple, lemon and melon. Moderate creaminess to it. No noticeable canning date but smells pretty good so far!

Taste: The first thing I got was that it reminded me a tad of a Werther's candy, butterscotchy and sweet but then it's finally settling in and gives me a creamy fruity and tropical New England Double IPA - notes of orange pop out at first, followed by pineapple, lemon and perhaps papaya? Good amount of yeastiness to give off a bite to the palate, quite smooth otherwise. Tad bit of a leafy hop presence at the end.

Overall Thoughts: I still remember being in Vermont right as the NEIPA trend was just about to explode and I've seen a lot of mixture of beers over the years from flat out duds to being a party in my mouth and this one is pretty decent, especially as this can't be fresh.. seeing as it was purchased over a month and a half ago but there's no canning date to tell me otherwise. Decent.
