I picked up a couple of cans of Açaii at Kilter Brewing a few months ago but have kept it in the fridge waiting for the right time to open it up. Açaii is a Super Fruit Smoothie IPA thats described as being infused with açai, strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, banana, milk sugar and vanilla. 6.7% ABV
Appearance: Full on fruit juice! it's got a cherry-grape juice sort of body to it, streams of micro-carbonation in the body but a very faint to minimal amount of carbonation on the head, is this juice or is this beer?
Aroma: Fairly sweet and full on medley of fruit juice aroma. I get a hint of the bitterness of açai berry right at the beginning but then overpowered by notes of strawberry, blueberry and banana. Hint of vanilla and milk sugar at the very end to give it a hint of creaminess.
Taste: Fruity and ever so slightly tart. I think the açai and blackberry pops out as the dominant fruits this time around. There's a hint of a Hubba Bubba bubble gum sweetness to it, strawberry, blueberry and vanilla partnered up with a bit of cream. I don't notice any hops nor any real grain presence but it's not too overly elementary school juice box for sweetness.
Overall Thoughts: I sent a can to a friend a few months ago and he said that this was a beer for those who don't like beer, well he's not wrong. It's a sweet and full on fruit juice IPA but without any noticeable hops/malt profile.. though it's there as it's definitely not as sweet as a juice box nor is it as sweet as those really fruity coolers we all drank in highschool (don't lie, you did it too!)
