This time last year I fell in love with Moosehead's Small Batch Strawberry Rhubarb Milkshake IPA, I enjoyed the beer so much that it was probably my go-to beer of summer of 2019. This time around they brought out a Mango IPA.
From the label: Today's forecast calls for hazy and extremely juicy. Our Mango IPA is brewed with an exhorbant amount of fresh, sweet mangoes mingled together with citrusy hops. The result is a refreshing taste of the tropics. 6.7% ABV / 35 IBU.
Appearance: This pours your typical classic IPA - it's got a bit of a caramel hue to it, fair amount of clarity, decent amount of carbonation. The head is light beige, fairly frothy and leaves behind a good amount of layered lacing on the glass.
Aroma: Moderately sweet IPA that has much more of an English vibe than a hazy/juicy IPA - quite malt forward with notes of caramel and a various fruitiness to it - mango, as well as a hint of apple and pineapple. Slighty syrupy sweetness at the end. Floral hops
Taste: Sweet, a bit malty and a bit boozy up from the beginning. There's a bit of mango, pineapple and lemon for sweetness, while a fairly moderate bitterness of hops that linger for a good deal of time.. predominantly piney. The mango clashes a bit with the hops so the aftertaste is not appealing but not bad otherwise.
Overall Thoughts: Really didn't like the aftertaste, it was kind of a nauseating taste but the beer wasn't bad, but nor was it great.. it didn't come off as a juicy/hazy IPA, perhaps had a bit of West Coast IPA mixed with English IPA but that's all I can really think of right now.
