It's not every day that I end up checking out an up-and-coming brewery in United States, but Atypical Brewery & Barrel Works out of Minot, North Dakota welcomed me to their brewery with wide open arms. The peeps behind Atypical Brewery & Barrel Works are Eric Johnson, Nick Holwegner, Brady Dixon and Dylan Davis. Eric & Nick greeted me at the brewery as as soon as I got there... Also, for those from Western Manitoba/Eastern Saskatchewan who frequent Minot, Nick was the head brewer over at Souris River Brewing for several years, it's great to see him back in the beer industry!
Atypical Brewery & Barrel Works will be opening in late 2018 with a focus on barrel-aged sour ales, but has plans on working on many other styles according to seasonal availability.
Atypical Brewery & Barrel Works hopes to open up within the next few months, and they are located at 510 North Central Ave East, right near The Pour House.
