Mortal Kombat X: Raiden Imperial Saison (Sound Brewery)

Another one from the hoard - Mortal Kombat X Imperial Saison by Sound Brewery out of Poulsbo, Washington. I've had this in my fridge hoard for just over a year and a bit, so I don't think it should have changed too much.

At 8.0% ABV, this amped up Imperial Saison has an electrifying blast of hops and CO2 that shock the tongue and thrill your senses. The aroma hops out of the glass with earthy, herbal notes not far behind.

Appearance: This one looks beautiful! This saison pours a cloudy bright orange body with a slight amount of sediment floating around, a good amount of carbonation in the body, and a whole finger's worth of snow white head on top.

Aroma: The initial thought I got was that this had a crisp, dry yet pilsnery presence to it - an easy going presence that was somewhat grassy but had good citrus notes to it. Eventually, I'm getting a Belgian yeastiness that gives off banana, cloves, hint of pepper and a sweet dough presence. This is reminiscent of the saisons that I first fell in love with back in the late 2000s.

Taste: Sweet Belgiany goodness all around! There's a hint of peppery spice that lightly burns the roof of my mouth, a light amount of banana, clove, a hint of earthiness from the hops, and finishes off somewhat bready. I'm not finding this to be a funky saison that's all the rage right now, rather this is a sweet, dry, easy to drink saison that isn't excessive in any sense.

Overall Thoughts: I like this one quite a bit, but the price point ($10~) was a bit much when I bought it, but I'm happy to say that this beer has held up really well in the year and half since I purchased this beer. Great Belgian yeastiness, hint of pepper and good deal of fruitiness to give this a great spring time vibe to it.
