Day 15! As the days creep down, the box o' advent beers is slowly disappearing. But that does mean beer every day!
Today's beer is Horny Goat Brewing out of Steven's Point, Wisconsin. Wisconsin is supposed to have quite a well established microbrewery scene going on right now in the state, so it's always good to try something going on.. well it was also home of Miller Brewing.. so that has something to do with it, likely.
Today's beer is Horny Goat's Belgian Style Wheat Beer, ale brewed with coriander and orange peel.
Appearance: A hazy yellow-orange, lighter in aroma to some witbiers, but the depth of the orange is pretty nice, quite a bit of fizzing going on at the pouring and close to no head by now.
Aroma: Orange peel, coriander, yeast, tomato, wheat and lemon. Compared to the Chambly I had last night, it's really light in aroma field, doesn't come at you in any way.
Taste: Orange peel, coriander, lemon, not much sweetness going on. For most part, it's a very subtle take on witbier, a bit of wheatiness, and that's about all.
Overall Thoughts: Incredibly bored with this beer, it doesn't really try to push anything out there in the senses. There's a minimal amount of everything, i'm not really tasting anything, it's more like a lagerised-witbier than anything. It needs heavier amounts of coriander, orange zest and the flavours people LOVE on a hot summer prairie afternoon.
