Day 9. Today's beer is Iron Horse Brown Ale by PEI brewery Gahan House Pub & Brewery. This is another treat that Stephen saved for me on his cross-Canada tour of trying beers.
Appearance: Pours a dark nutty brown with a slight caramel hue to it, light amount of foam, eggshell/beige in colour.
Aroma: Incredibly light aroma, slight nuttiness, hint of molasses, slightly roasted malts (giving it a minimal hint of chocolate and coffee).
Taste: Your standard brown ale, dark in flavour, but quite light. Has a bit of a roasted malt to it, giving it that standard roasted coffee bean taste to the palate, bit watery to feel, a bit of chocolate to it, and some overall nuttiness.
Overall Thoughts: An average brown ale, light nuttiness, a bit of molasses, roastiness but not much really happening here unfortunately. This is a beer I'd have a 6 pack of to share friends with, but not something I'd buy when I want something ZOMGLICIOUS. 5.2% ABV
