Review: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

Review: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale by Cody La Bière
One of the #1 beers people tell me I have to purchase while down in North Dakota is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Somehow, I never tried this beer until now.. how's that possible?! No clue. Well, finally I got to try it!

I also tried their Torpedo Extra IPA - which was super yum, and I will be reviewing it in the very near future!

Appearance: Pours a nice sweet honeyish amber in appearance, slightly hazy and a grew bits of sediment came out of the bottle at the very end, innnnteresting. Very minimal head but it is an offwhite head that dimishes very swiftly, yet gently and leaves a slight white ring around the glassware.

Aroma: Quite strong in aroma for a pale ale, compared to an "Indian" "Pale Ale" like Keiths, this is closer to an IPA than Keith's, by far. It has a bit of a sweet caramelly aroma followed by an alfalfa-rich floral hoppy bitter aroma, with a lemon zing following it.

Taste: The caramel malt pops out very first off with an alfalfa/piney bitterness quickly following it. Has a decent amount of lemon citrusness in it. Decently hoppy, not too overpowering, this has much more of a bitter aftertaste and really hates the middle/back of the tongue compared to most Canadian pale ales. Nice sweetness, a good bounty of hops and a citrus zing.

Overall Thoughts: Cost approximately $7.99 for a 6 pack (12oz bottles - 355mL) and 5.6% ABV, very much a good buy, especially considering how tasty it is - a good piney/alfalfaesque pale ale with a great amount of bitterness, sweetness and citrus all rolled up in a bottle. I tried to do this review 3 times but somehow it didn't work, so I'm doing this off the top of my head, if you disliked this review, you can do your own review.

Tried Sierra Nevada for the first time back on Super Bowl Sunday. Found it the right balance of hops and citrus for my tongue. No wonder it's a popular beer in California.
