Review: Low Life x The Establishment Friends Modern IPA

Low Life x The Establishment Friends Modern IPA
Friends is a Modern IPA collaboration between Winnipeg's Low Life Barrel House and Calgary's The Establishment Brewing Co.

From Low Life's Instagram: We took inspiration from (The Establishment) their Rebel Girl modern saison and brewed up a zippy little IPA that is bursting with flavours of candied pineapple and yuzu. Ultra dry and ultra refreshing, our new modern IPA is brewed to please you and all your friends. 5.1% ABV

Appearance: Incredibly cloudy/almost opaque with a lemon yellow body to it, and a very thick and carbonated snow-white head on top. It's not a gusher in any sense but it foamed for a good minute before it started to diminish at all. Minimal lacing on the glass as the beer goes down.

Aroma: Reminds me a bit of most of Low Life's blonde/lighter beers - a moderate barn yard funkiness to it and a good heftiness of lemon to it. The beer's a bit soapy, notes of straw, bit of melon and floral hops. The melon and floral hops remind me a bit of an IPA but not really.

Taste: Sweet-forward with notes of melon, lemon, Brett to give it a bit of funk. Floral hops (hint of alfalfa), incredibly dry, and has a touch of graininess to it.

Overall Thoughts: It's alright, the floral hops were nice, it was decently sweet but nothing wowed me about this beer at all, but it's still good!
